My table rate is charged two or three times
What you see
A method priced with a Table shows exactly two, three or more times the charge you entered. For example, your table says $12.99 but checkout shows $38.97.
Most likely causes
1. The cart was packed into several boxes
ASM packs the cart into boxes first, then looks up the table and charges each box separately. The box charges are added up.
| Table | Cart packs into | Shopper pays |
|---|---|---|
Products: 0 → 12.99 |
3 boxes | 3 × $12.99 = $38.97 |
Weight: 0 → 8.95, 5 → 12.95 |
2 boxes of 15 lb | 2 × $12.95 = $25.90 |
- Confirm: divide the price by your table's charge. A whole number is the number of boxes. The Shipping Estimator shows the packages it used; see Read Shipping Estimator results.
- Fix: choose the option that fits:
- Let more products share a box: check product dimensions, boxes and Ship alone. See Set dimensions, boxes and "ship alone".
- Charge once for a group of products with the product's Flat ship rates and the
*group syntax, for example2=12.99*. See Product markup and flat-rate syntax. - For an Amount table, tier by the whole order: set Base table-amount shipping rules on to Order value in Settings. See Global shipping settings explained.
2. A free product is still packed on this method
A product with Free shipping on is only free on the methods listed in its Free shipping methods. On other methods it's packed and charged, and can add a box.
- Confirm: open the product and check Free shipping methods for this method's number.
- Fix: add the method's number. See Free or flat shipping for a product.
3. Something else adds to the price
If the price isn't an exact multiple, the cause is probably a markup, a product charge or a minimum charge. See Shipping is higher than expected.
