Free shipping isn't applying

What you see

You set Free shipping over on a method, but a shopper whose order is over the amount still pays for shipping. Or the method disappears when the order should be free.

Most likely causes

1. The order is exactly the amount, or under it after coupons

"Over" means more than. With 75, an order of exactly $75.00 isn't free. With Subtract coupons on, coupon and promo discounts are taken off before the comparison.

• Confirm: subtract the coupon from the order total. Is the result more than your amount?
• Fix: lower the amount by a cent (for example 74.99), or turn Subtract coupons off.

2. The address is outside "Valid only to"

Valid only to starts at 48 States. Alaska, Hawaii, territories and other countries still pay.

• Confirm: check the destination against Valid only to in the Free shipping card. The rule card says, for example, "Free shipping over: $75 (valid to 48 states)".
• Fix: choose a wider option, such as 48 States, AK, HI.

3. Some products are excluded

Products marked Global free ship exclusion are always charged, and their value doesn't count toward the amount.

• Confirm: open the products in the cart and check Global free ship exclusion.
• Fix: turn it off on products that should qualify. See Free or flat shipping for a product.

4. The cart is over "Max weight allowed"

• Confirm: compare the cart weight with Max weight allowed in the Free shipping card.
• Fix: raise or clear the limit.

5. A setting turns free shipping off

In Settings, Disable global free shipping if a coupon or promo code is used stops free shipping whenever a coupon or promo code is used.

6. The method disappears once it's free

Free products' weight is left out of the cart weight. If the method has a minimum Weight, it may no longer match.

• Confirm: check When this rule applies → Weight on the method's rules.
• Fix: clear the minimum weight, or turn on Count free/flat shipping weights when free/flat shipping is applied in Settings.

7. You set it on a different method

Free shipping over belongs to one method. A shopper choosing another method still pays.

• Confirm: check which method the shopper picked, and whether its rule card shows "Free shipping over".
