Feeds Page

This section is only available if you subscribe to the vendor feeds module.

The Feeds page shows you a list of your vendor feeds.  To add a new feed, click the "Add New Feed" button at the bottom of the page.

First, enter a unique name for this feed in the "Feed Name" field.

There are three different ways for Centrifuge to receive your vendors' feeds. Fetch a URL, Download From FTP, or Parse an Email.

  • Fetch a URL - Choosing this method tells Centrifuge to go to the specified URL to retrieve the feed. Enter the full URL (including the http....) in the "Feed URL Address" field below.
  • Download from FTP - Choose this method if your vendor gave you an FTP address with a username and password.  In the "Feed Host Address" field below, enter the username, password, and FTP address in the following format: ftp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@hostname.com/foldernames/filename.csv.  For example: Let's say the username is "John", password is "abc123", and address of the file was vendor.com/dailyfeeds/feedfile.csv.  You would enter the following: ftp://John:abc123@vendor.com/dailyfeeds/feedfile.csv
  • Parse an Email - Centrifuge is capable of receiving emails from your vendors that contain feeds.  If you will be using this method for any of your feeds, make sure to go to the "Settings" page and enter your Gmail credentials.  You will need to set up a dedicated Gmail account for Centrifuge to use. See the settings page help file for more details: http://kingwebmaster.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/67/16/settings-page.  In the "Feed File Name" field below, enter the name of the feed file that will be attached to the email.  If the filename changes on a regular basis, then use an asterisk in place of the varying part of the filename.  For example, if the file name is a combination of the word "feed" and the current date, such as "feed121511.csv", you would enter "feed*.csv".

Please note that if you choose "Fetch a URL" or "Download from FTP", you will be prompted below to enter a start time (USA Central Time Zone), and at what interval to retreive the feed.

Next you will need to select the correct file format of the feed.  Centrifuge can read the following file formats:

  • Comma Delimited (CSV)
  • Tab Delimited
  • Bar Delimited
  • XML Structured

After you set the correct file format, click the "Map This Feed" button.
